Vega del Rayo
Rioja
Vega del Rayo Tempranillo 2004/2005 (6) £4.79 £28.74
This unoaked Temranillo has plenty of vibrant fruit with a
surprising amount of depth for a Rioja at this price.
Organic La Mancha (Spain)
Caballero de Masarrubias (6) £5.38 £32.28
A really excellent example of the fruit driven wines that are
so typical of Spain. Forget that it is organic and enjoy a wine
that is excellent value for money.
Vega del Rayo Seleccionada 2004/2005 (6) £5.80 £34.80
This is a ‘semi-crianza’ Rioja that is aged eight months
in barrel.
As its name suggests it has been very carefully made and is
approachable and thoroughly good value.
Marques de Riscal
As one of the best known Spanish wine makers, these two red wines
along with the white above do more than justice to the name. They
may be a little more expensive but that is more than justified by
their consistency in style and quality.
The Tempranillo is good easy drinking, whereas the Reserva has more
fruit and
depth about it.
Riscal Tempranillo 2005 £6.25 £75.00
Riscal Rioja Reserva 2002 £10.20 £122.40
Faustino Rivero Ulecia
Rioja Nostalgia £6.96 £83.52
A nose of almost burnt vanilla and oaked berries greets you and
then a wine of good weight, smooth texture fills the mouth
with a long velvety finish.
Monte Real Reserva 2001 (6) £9.49 £56.94
A real taste of Spain exudes from this unique Rioja. It combines
generous fruit with sweet vanilla oak characteristics. Delicious.
